Dentists James Eastcott and Nicola Wood recently joined Pyes Pa Dentists, and are enjoying work at their new surgery.

Nicola has been a dentist for 15 years, and says Pyes Pa Dentists is a perfect fit for her.

“I love working with an enthusiastic and passionate team here.”

She graduated as a dentist from Newcastle University in northeast England in 2001 after getting a bachelor's degree in physiological sciences. While in England she fell in love with a Kiwi and then moved to New Zealand with him.

Nicola tries to put patients at ease at much as possible and provides the individual care that is specific to their treatment.

She says the clinic is up to date with the latest technology and their technology allows them to offer a wide range of services from routine dentistry when necessary.

James graduated from the University of Otago in 2015 after studying dentistry for five years. He is also a qualified pharmacologist.

The 26-year-old says he was attracted to Tauranga by a personal recommendation.

“I wanted to move to Tauranga, and a friend of mine had been previously employed here so I knew it was a pretty good place to work.”

James believes patients should be taught to look after their teeth.

“I try and let the person take care of their teeth as much as possible and only do something, for example a filling unless, it's absolutely necessary.”

And his advice?

“Flossing is equally as important, or even more important as brushing your teeth.”
